SPLOST 2019 Public Meetings
For Immediate Release:
City of Newnan Schedules 2019 SPLOST Public Meetings
The purpose of the public meetings is to provide interested members of the public an opportunity to share their opinions of potential projects and to provide answers to questions related to SPLOST programs in general.
What is SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)? A one percent sales tax approved by voters and used for specific capital projects over a specified time period.
How does SPLOST affect me and my community? In Newnan, voters approved a SPLOST in 2013 and it provided funding for projects such as the new Public Safety Complex, which houses the Newnan Police Department and Municipal Court. Other past projects include the 5 Points Round-a-Bout, McIntosh Parkway Roadway (currently under construction), acquisition of Fire Department vehicles and equipment, miles of roadway and sidewalk repair and maintenance and numerous other public projects.
The City of Newnan will be hosting two (2) public meetings at various times and locations (see meeting schedule below).
