Coweta County Calls for Volunteers to Help Disaster Recovery
The Volunteer Coordination Center will be operational starting Thursday, April 1 - Saturday, April 3 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Volunteers should be at least 10 years of age. Volunteers should report to Smokey Road Middle School located at 965 Smokey Road, Newnan, GA where they will complete the required paperwork and be assigned a work zone. To limit vehicle traffic and increase effectiveness in the work zones, volunteers will be transported to their work zone via Coweta County Public School buses.
Volunteers are asked to commit to working one shift. Shifts are classified as one 4-hour time period during a day of service. Current shifts are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from either 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. (time period includes travel). When traveling to Smokey Road Middle School, we advise all individuals to take the 34 Bypass to Ishman Billard Road and carpool if possible.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear proper gear including closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing. In addition, volunteers should bring water and snacks to stay hydrated and energized.
Coweta County and partner agencies will provide basic protective equipment, such as gloves, protective eyewear and face masks. This equipment shoudl be worn throughout the volunteer experience. Face masks are required.
