CITY OF NEWNAN CELEBRATES GEORGIA CITIES WEEK, APRIL 21-27

NEWNAN, GA, April 1 - The city of Newnan will be celebrating "Georgia Cities Week" April 21-27.

The city will be holding a variety of events throughout the week, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Keep Newnan Beautiful's April Showers Bring May Flowers project, a "Drop in Craft Day" at the Newnan Carnegie Library and "Lunch with a Cop" with the Newnan Police Department and a "Movie @ the Park" screening of Mary Poppins Returns.

The theme of this year's Georgia Cities Week is "Georgia Cities: True Colors" highlighting the unique characteristics of cities. This is the 20th year Georgia Cities Week has been celebrated in the state.

Events planned for the week are:
- April 22 at 3:30 p.m. will be a ribbon-cutting for April Showers Bring May Flowers at the Newnan Carnegie Libary

- April 23 at 11:30 a.m. will be "Lunch with a Cop" at Golden's on the Square,  hosted by the Newnan Police Department

- April 26 at 8:25 p.m. will be "Movie @ the Park" screening of Mary Poppins Returns at Greenville Street Park

Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association, to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting service to its 538 member cities.
