Spared from the ravages of the Civil War, Newnan includes six nationally registered historic districts and is known as “The City of Homes." With the nation's busiest airport close at hand, Newnan is a planned center of growth that blends beautiful residential areas with a solid business community. We are an ideal environment for living and working, offering state-of-the-art city and public safety services and a public school system that is ranked “excellent” by the Georgia Department of Education. For more information on the Coweta County School System, please visit www.cowetaschools.net. Private schools are also available in the community. Additionally, community parks offer biking, swimming, team sports, and golfing opportunities for everyone.
To assure our continuing quality of life, the Newnan City Council has adopted both a Comprehensive Plan and a Short-Term Work Program for the City. The Comprehensive Plan connects Newnan’s rich history to our present life, visualizes our dreams for the future of the City, and ensures that we maintain the highest service levels for the citizens of Newnan. I salute the Newnan Police Department and Newnan Fire Department (ISO Classification 4) who maintain the public safety to the citizens of Newnan and the numerous committed volunteers who serve our community on boards, commissions, and authorities daily. Without question, it is our outstanding citizens who make Newnan such a wonderful place to live and work.
It is an honor to serve as your mayor. Please contact City Hall at 770-253-2682 when the City of Newnan can be of service to you.
